This is Royston Shipwrecks, there is 14 sunken ships that where used as breakwater to protect the log booming grounds of the Comox harbor. The first ship was sunk in 1936 by the Comox Logging and Railway Co. It was named the Laurel Whalen and it was built in 1917.
The last ship was wooden Tug ATR-13 in 1959. The boats and posts around them have also become homes and breeding grounds for many different types of birds making it great for bird watching. More on the type of birds Here
Sometimes you see other flying things too.
It is also a great fishing spot in late August and as you can see by my pictures it is beautiful. You can access this area easily and it is along the Royston Greenway, which is a wonderful little trail with lots to see.
The trail is built along the old train track that you can still see poking out in areas through the soil which is really nice but has been blocked off in areas for safety. They even have portable toilets nearby and dogs are welcome on leash.
